Gone mobile friendly…
I’ve spotted this neat WordPress plug-in that allow your blog to be displayed in its bare essential, minimalistic way that’s friendly to your mobile audience. It created by Crowd Favorite, whom brought us the wonderful tool like Twitter Tools. So I went ahead and gave WordPress Mobile Edition a try and seems like it’s working quite nicely. The theme used for the mobile friendly is Carrington Mobile – which is based on Carrington Blog by alexkingorg.
Facebook mobile coming to Vodafone NZ?
Just doing my usual Facebook thing and thought to explore around my settings and checking out Facebook Mobile section (again). I have known that Facebook Mobile has long since been available for Telecom NZ customers but not quite there for Vodafone NZ yet, or is it?
WordPress upgrade 2.8.4
Looks like there’s another WordPress Security Release, details can be found at WordPress 2.8.4 Security Release post. And if you’re attempting to do a manual upgrade for your self-hosted WordPress, or the automatic upgrade system doesn’t work for you – may be due to some limitation of your webhost – be sure to read my earlier post in regards to how to perform a manual WordPress upgrade.
Good luck, and remember to backup your database and/or contents.
And then it’s back again!
A couple of days ago, Nambu has announced their tr.im service. Then today, they’re announced that tr.im has been resurrected back to service. What gives?!
Nambu has ended tr.im service
Any blogger, tweep or savvy internet user et al will know and understand what a URL shortening is. tr.im is one of those provider and sadly to say Nambu has decided to terminate its tr.im service, effectively immediately.
WordPress 2.8.3 manual upgrade: success
Well I don’t know how insecure the WordPress2.8.2 would be if left unpatch, but from within the WordPress administration dashboard, the message kept hinting me to upgrade to version 2.8.3. It isn’t too annoying but it is itching my nerves and bugging me to go ahead with the upgrade.
So naturally and curiously as my nature is, I decided to try with the built-in in-place automatic upgrade. Punch in the necessary credential for the FTP to work, and it crunching along as it seems. Then, BAM, I get the usual error that I’m expecting when trying to install or upgrade plug-ins. You see, my web host (WebDrive) has funny folders permissions set up in their Control Panel and I could never understand how to fully use it… So what’s my next option?
You guessed it, the manual upgrade! So how did it go? Well you knew the outcome already *duh*… but I bet y’all are interested how I went about doing it? I am sure some of you have already knew this stupidly-simple task, BUT I didn’t!
So to those new to WordPress and are just so happen to look for an easy how-to perform manual WordPress upgrade, let me share my experience with ya! Oh yeah! I went ahead with the upgrade without first backing up my database and files… Kids, do not try this at home!
First comment, and it was a spam!
Oh well I got excited to see that a blog finally have received its first comment. However as it turned out, it is a spam comment – bummer. Curiously though, the comment was a hyperlink linking to a Russian site, and because it was malformed that it never linked. And good thing that reCaptcha for WordPress spotted it.
What you say?!
Well… it is still an early stage to determine how well this blog is going to get. Admittedly there’s hardly blog topics or discussions with substance yet, but that’s not to say Planet Chief a blog is not going to get busier with worthwhile topics etc.
However, as it is right now, it bears a question that I hope to get feedbacks from the readers, the audiences – if there’s anyone out there? – would you prefer to post a comment anonymously, or will you register to comment?
Ever changing theme…
If you have been following my blog and checking back every so often, then you might have noticed the theme kept changing. (Why are you keep checking on my blog for? Are you stalking me or what??!!) *lol*
